‘Offensive’ and ‘explicit’ Wicked Campers van banned

Controversial motor rental company Wicked Campers has had another one of its vans banned by the advertising watchdog, this time for plastering an “explicit reference to a sexual act” on its van.

The van, which was registered in South Australia, said “I don’t always give a woman an orgasm, but when I do she usually spits it out”.

Posting to Ad Standards, a complaint said the van was “obscene” and “totally unacceptable”.

Ad Standards said the vehicle contained content which was “inappropriate for a broad audience in a medium which people may not be able to avoid seeing the images and word”.

The ad watchdog said the ad referred to a sexual act which was “offensive and inappropriate”.

Upholding the complaint Ad Standards said the ad did not treat the issue of sex, sexuality or nudity with sensitivity.

Wicked Campers failed to provide any response to the complaint and the ruling.
