The announcement:
OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN IS BACK HOSTING SHOWS ON SMOOTHFM
Olivia Newton-John, singer/songwriter, actor and entrepreneur, will return to smooth from this weekend to host smoothfm’s Saturday Night Dinner Party at 6pm. The four-time Grammy award winner will host a series of evening shows, across four consecutive weeks, featuring a soundtrack to get listeners in the mood for their ultimate dinner party.
Olivia Newton-John is no stranger to smoothfm, having first appeared on the station in 2014 and returning to host her own weekend shows in September 2015 and August 2016, as well as co-hosting a smoothfm Christmas special with John Farnham in December 2016.
Olivia’s Saturday Night Dinner Party shows will coincide with her Wellness Walk and Research Run, presented by smoothfm, held on Sunday 6 October in Melbourne.
Olivia said, “I’m so excited to connect with my fans through smooth for my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre Wellness Walk and Research Run because the station reaches so many people in such a lovely way, and I hope it encourages people to either attend, or be virtual walkers for my fundraiser.”
During the Saturday Night Dinner Party shows, Olivia will share personal anecdotes, including recent recordings she has done with a range of artists, her cherished friendship with John Farnham and her tips and tricks for the perfect Saturday Night Dinner Party. Olivia has selected a number of tracks for her dinner parties from artists including The Bee Gees, Bruno Mars and Whitney Houston.
Peter Clay, Head of Programming smoothfm Network, “This is one of my favourite parts of smoothfm, not only do the listeners get to hear their favourite songs, the artists that write them share what’s happening in their personal lives and reflect the music that they love to listen to.
The celebrity hosted shows are unique to smooth and one of my highlights.”
Olivia Newton-John is the latest high-profile artists and personalities to host her own smoothfm Saturday Night Dinner Party including Ronan Keating, Sir Rod Stewart, Michael Bublé and Nigella Lawson. She joins smoothfm’s weekend line-up featuring Melissa Doyle in breakfast from 6am, Richard Wilkins from 10am, David Campbell from 1pm and Cameron Daddo from 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Olivia Newton-John’s Saturday Night Dinner Party – Starting Saturday 14 September from 6pm to 8pm on smoothfm 95.3 Sydney, smoothfm 91.5 Melbourne and on smoothfm DAB+

Welcome back Olivia, so glad to hear your beautiful voice. You are such an inspiration to so many. I won tickets 2 years ago from Smooth to attend your ONJ Gala I took my beautiful sisier in law Vickie with me, as Vickie was battling her own battle with cancer. We both had a wonderful night. It was just what Vickie needed. Listening to you & seeing your positive outlook through your battles with cancer. Unfortunately Vickie succumbed to the terrible disease earlier this year. Her loss is felt by so many as she was so loved. A month ago my darling husband was diagnosed with bowed cancer. Again we will keep positive.
I hope to see you on your wellness walk, as my daughter & I will be walking in memory of Vickie & for my husband & everyone else doing it tough.
Love & light
Jo-Ann Wallace xx
