Olympic Gold means a good Thursday for Nine
There’s nothing like a gold medal to help viewing figures, as the Winter Olympics demonstrated again on Thursday – delivering a 1m+ audience for Nine.
Lydia Lassila’s victory in the aerial skiing helped Nine’s Vancouver Gold to fifth place for Thursday. Nine also won the night, according to preliminary metro ratings from OzTam.
The Olympic uplift was a factor across the whole schedule, with Nine’s Today beating Seven’s Sunrise and Nine’s Hot Seat beating Seven’s Deal Or No Deal.

I hate to say it, but it would appear that NIne is listening to some of the criticism. Last night, despite not showing it until 9:30, they did at least feature the Aerials straight away, and didn’t drag it out in ridiculous fashion. The covered all of the jumps, and Leila did a reasonable job interviewing Lydia, although the old ‘when you were standing at the top of the mountain, how did you feel?’ chestnut was a bit cliche.
