OMD makes it onto dream employers list
OMD has strengthened the grip on its claim to be the best media agency to work at in Australia, making it onto another top workplace list.
This time the agency was placed seventh on the Red Balloon-organised Dream Employers list.
In June OMD was placed 21st on the BRW Best Places To Work List. In 2009 the agency was 12th on the same list.
OMD was also named employer of the year in last year’s B&T Awards.
Could have fooled me that most Qantas staff are in their dream job.
Something smells funny with this. Not that I dispute employment at OMD as ‘a dream’ in fact I dream about it often, but Salmat?

I have no doubt that OMD is one of the best media agencies in Aus to work for. To say that 3,000 random punters thought so (or had even heard of them) is ridiculous. Obviously a lovely staff vote on the online survey….
Exactly Ian, OMD force their staff to vote. Shallow award. And no one cares. Have a look at their staff turnover each year. That tells the real story

I guess the obvious flaw of most of these survey-based “best employer” lists is that it relies on staff to take part which immediately of course introduces a bias. Except of course, if your staff are unhappy they aren’t going to give you a high score as an employer in an anonymous survey.
As a second point, surely the fact that OMD takes winning this sort of thing seriously is immediately a plus point. I’d rather work for an employer who wants to be a good employer, than one that doesn’t bother.

For the record, anon. The notion of forcing staff to vote is not only wrong, it is ridiculous.
Do we encourage staff to feedback in generally and specifically to participate in surveys internally and externally – yes. Do we then use it as to how we can continually improve as a business, environment and culture.

your a fool. As if OMD would MAKE US complete a survey. It was entirely by choice. And staff turnover? I would guess we coiuld be one of the lowest in the industry
To be frank we have a pretty good culture here at OMD. As a general rule everyone enjoys work. They enjoy their collegues and it it a great and supportive place to come to work. Its certainly the best place i have worked at in my career.
But i am not going to preach that OMD is indeed a good place to work. The track record can speak for itself. @anon please stay where you are. you wouldnt fit in here anyway.

To get a more ‘accurate’ Best Place to Work list, these survey monkeys should survey annual staff turnovers of companies like what @anon said.

I agree. # 5 for Qantas?? How bizarre. I bet the management team had something to do with that, definitely not true employees.
I’d be more inclined to pay attention to this list when it comes to places to work based on their methodology.

There are at least 3 companies in that list where a disturbingly large number of their employees want to kill themselves. That is a fact.
That they are on such a “list” is a twisted form of black comedy. One can only assume that their totalitarian management commanded the staff to vote for the company, in the same way “Dear Leader” has his people vote for his management team.
Where’s Telstra on this list?
