OneMusic appoints Mango Communications as ANZ PR agency of record

OneMusic has named Mango Communications as its PR agency of record in Australia and New Zealand. The appointment comes following a competitive pitch process.

The agency’s remit includes media relations, influencer and partnership management.

Mango Communications’ client list also includes ARN’s The Edge96.One, Bendon Lingerie, Ikea Australia, New Balance, and Tourism NT.

OneMusic Australia is a joint initiative between APRA AMCOS and PPCA. It provides businesses permission for the commercial use of millions of songs protected by copyright globally.

The two music bodies created OneMusic Australia in mid 2019 to provide businesses with an easy way to pay required royalties for public performance through a one-stop licence gateway to all its works, sound recordings and music videos.

Mango has been appointed to drive awareness for OneMusic’s licences in both countries through increased understanding of the need for businesses to pay royalties for the music played in commercial spaces.

OneMusic Australia director, Catherine Giuliano, said: “Mango Communications was able to show, with their very strategic and well-devised plan, how we could collectively drive positive behavioural change through education and engagement. We’re excited to kick start an always-on publicity, influencer and advertorial campaign not undertaken on this scale in our near-100 year history.”

Mango Communications Sydney managing director, Tabitha Fairbairn, said: “This is an opportunity for our teams to support the music industry by generating awareness of the fundamental need for businesses to pay artists for their hard work.

“This is a fascinating space and a challenging communications brief that requires strategic thinking, creativity and commitment to supporting the arts. The appointment of Mango ANZ reinforces our capabilities at both regional and domestic levels in the PR space.”
