OOh!media appoints NRL exec as chief strategy and transformation officer

OOh!media has continued its talent drive with the appointment of senior NRL executive Andrew Every to the newly created role of chief strategy and transformation officer.

Every joins the out of home company’s executive leadership team, with a remit to identify areas of strategic growth across its core business and adjacent markets, and continue the trajectory towards a digital first future.

He takes on the new role after three years as the NRL’s executive general manager of strategy and transformation, where he led partnerships with the league’s long-term major media partners and spearheaded a number of improved financial outcomes.

Every has previously also spent time as an executive leader in Telstra’s Media business, driving the growth of Foxtel, Telstra TV and Telstra’s live sports apps. He is also familiar with the out of home industry, having spent 10 years working with Adshel as one of his key clients during his time at PwC.

Commenting on the appointment, oOh!media CEO, Cathy O’Connor said Every would be working closely with the rest of the executive team to “strategically assess the market, both globally and locally, analysing the competitive dynamics and closely monitoring and driving market opportunities”.

She continued: “I’m delighted he is bringing his years of experience in delivering strategic outcomes and transformation to oOh!.”

Every added: “I’m incredibly excited about joining oOh! and the opportunities that lie ahead. The people I’ve met with so far have been really impressive. There is enormous potential for growth in Out of Home and I can’t wait to get started.”

The news comes after outgoing UnLtd chief executive Chris Freel last week revealed he would be joining oOh!media in another newly created role as group sales director for Australia.

Both appointments follow a number of senior appointments across the business in recent months, with former LinkedIn sales executive Prue Cox named to the newly created role of group director of data, solutions and digital sales earlier in January.

The business has also recently appointed a new chief people and culture officer and head of digital sales, after welcoming Yahoo’s Paul Sigaloff as chief revenue and growth officer in March, replacing former chief sales officer Tim Murphy.

Every’s appointment is effective as of 22 February.
