Optus invites customers to ‘Donate Your Data’ to young Australians in need
Optus has launched an initiative, Donate Your Data, inviting postpaid and prepaid customers to donate their data to young Australians who need it to access educational resources.
The announcement:
Optus is partnering with its customers to donate data to young Australians who need it most
I am a current optus customer for both mobile and nbn and was disappointed to learn that because my mobile data plan is 6gb I was unable to donate. I do not use much mobile data as I’m am lucky enough to use wifi for most of my requirements so on my minimum 4gb plan I usually have leftover at the end of the month. I do not understand why there has to be a minimum on data donation and this is causing the charity to miss out on passing on a lot more data to those in need.
Hi Optus, How about instead of running this bulls**t campaign and instead just donate a small % of what you make everytime someone recharges or pays their plan then maybe you would be “helping” but at this point you obviously that money hungry that you rather not help out and get others too. Shame on you Optus, maybe you should be donating and lead a good example.
Could Optus confirm how much data they are donating. Given their profits are in the hundreds of millions, I would be really interested to see them set the example.
Can Optus confirm whether the donations they pass on from customers then benefit them with tax deductions. Why doesn’t Optus just donate unused data that is left over automatically. This smells like bullshit to me…..
