Optus reappoints Thrive PR to public relations account
Thrive PR has won a competitive pitch and retained Optus’ consumer and SMB (small and medium-sized businesses) account, Mumbrella can reveal.
Optus pitches the account every three years, and said Thrive PR won the brand over with the “one per centers”.
“Thrive delivered the best response to brief, brought excellent thinking to our communications challenges and won us over with the one per centers – the details – and we look forward to our continued relationship with the Thrive team,” Steve Batten, Optus’ associate director of corporate affairs and media told Mumbrella.
Thrive first won the account back in 2015, with the agency saying it was looking forward to doing more great work with Optus.
Thrive PR’s managing director Leilani Abels noted it was no mean feat to pitch for the large account again, but said she was pleased with the result.
“I’m immensely proud that the Thrive team has retained its partnership for another term. We feel very fortunate to work with the talented in-house comms and marketing teams at Optus on outstanding campaigns and always-on PR. It’s about evolving and strengthening our work together and looking for ways to increase the value PR brings to the business,” Abels told Mumbrella.
The win, she said, only strengthened Thrive PR’s proposition.
“Thrive is in a very solid position as one of the largest PR agencies in Australasia. Being independent means we behave like a small boutique agency with hands-on senior staff, yet we can flex our muscle with scale and bring together our five offices for creative collaboration and big agency reach. Our relationships and innovative thinking, along with our honest approach, appeals to our clients such as Optus. For us, it’s about doing great PR work, with great people,” she said.
Thrive PR’s other clients include Bauer Media, as well as brands in food, beverages and sport.
In December last year, the agency appointed Dentsu Aegis Network’s senior public affairs manager, Jane Hutton, as its communications and marketing director.
