Optus Sport locks in exclusive FA Cup broadcast rights

Optus Sport has secured the exclusive Australian broadcasting rights for the FA Cup, the world’s longest running national soccer competition.

In addition, the pre-season FA Community Shield will also be coming exclusively to Optus Sport.

“The Emirates FA Cup is one of the most prestigious knockout cup competitions in world football and we are excited to unite the Emirates FA Cup and The FA Community Shield as part of the world’s best football on Optus Sport,” Howard Rees, head of Optus Sport, said.

James Gray, The FA’s Commercial Director, added: “We are really pleased to unveil this new broadcast partnership for the Emirates FA Cup in Australia.

“Optus Sport shares our vision of elevating this iconic competition even higher around the world, while preserving the rich heritage and traditions that make the cup so special, and we’re looking forward to working together over the years ahead.”

The news comes as Optus Sport’s coverage of the UEFA EURO 2024 and Copa América continues, with the final round of 16 matches to be played next week for the Euros – Austria v Turkiye and Netherlands v Romania – while the quarterfinals of Copa to kick off this Friday.

As well as the FA Cup, which starts in November, Optus Sport also has the broadcast rights to the Premier League, LaLigs, J.League, Women’s Super League, Copa America, UEFA Nations League, European national team football, DFB-Pokal, and K League.
