OzTAM CEO Doug Peiffer to depart after 13 years

Long-time chief executive of television ratings provider OzTAM Doug Peiffer is set to depart in July after close to 13 years at the helm.

OzTAM non-executive chairman Mark Buckman said Peiffer will finish up on 1 July 2023 and the company’s board has commenced a search for a replacement CEO.

“Doug has led OzTAM through a period of transformation and significant change in which both technology and Australian media consumption patterns changed dramatically,” Buckman said.

“OzTAM’s Board and I offer Doug our thanks and appreciation for his leadership and contribution and wish him every continued success in his career.”

Peiffer’s departure comes just over a month after the official launch of Total TV measurement system, Virtual OZ (VOZ), in May this year.

Peiffer first joined the Nine, Seven and Ten co-owned service in 2010 as chief executive, replacing Kate Inglis-Clark at the time.

Prior to OzTAM, Peiffer worked as general manager at Network Ten from 2001 to 2010, and previously held management roles at TNS and AC Nielsen.

Commenting on his decision, Peiffer said: “I am incredibly proud of the evolution of OzTAM during my 12-plus years in the CEO role in what has been a turbulent and challenging period of transition for the media sector.

“Now, with the successful launch of VOZ, and more than 12 years with the company, the time is right for me to hand over the reins to new OzTAM leadership. I thank my team for their astonishingly hard work and support and look forward to seeing their many future accomplishments.”
