Pacific adds another eight titles to podcast suite, partners with Acast

Pacific is continuing to build its growing podcast suite, adding another eight titles to the current lineup for a total of 17.

The publisher has also announced a partnership with podcast company Acast, which will now be the business’ exclusive hosting and distribution partner.

Acast is the biggest podcast platform in the world, working with companies including BBC, Wondery, The Guardian and The Economist. The business already works with Seven West Media, Ten, Nova Entertainment and Vice Australia in the local market.

In the exclusive partnership with Pacific, the company will deliver technical infrastructure to manage, grow and distribute podcast content across all platforms. It will also offer sales representation and the ability to buy Pacific’s content through contextual collections.

Pacific will also be the first Australian company to access Acast’s ad manager platform which will allow for the self-service uploading of campaigns against Pacific’s inventory.

Acast’s ANZ content director, Guy Scott-Wilson, said: “We know podcasts from established mastheads perform incredibly well and Australian podcast audience growth is coming from well-loved brands entering the space. This partnership, and Pacific’s amazing suite of podcasts, will give audiences the content they crave, and help attract new listeners to the medium. It will also open the door for advertisers to deliver targeted messages in an engaging and on-demand format.”

The new titles joining the podcast suite are Men’s Health Strength Sessions, which will feature interviews with Mark Wahlberg, Steve Plain and Chris Hemsworth; Marie Claire’s Finding Fearless, which launched with an exclusive Drew Barrymore interview; Tastebud Traveller by Better Homes and Gardens, with support from Collette Vacations; and Trolley Watch by New Idea.

Also launching is The Daily Home Edit by InStyle; The Ghost Files, which will be hosted by Spirit Sisters author Karina Machado, Celebrit-Tea, hosted by Who editorials Stacey Hicks and Ali Cromarty; and The Baby Whisperer from Practical Parenting.

The new titles join The Rock Star and the Nanny which launched earlier this year and New Idea’s Royals, among other titles.

Pacific’s head of commercial product, Danielle Lowry, said: “This partnership with Acast comes at a pivotal moment for Pacific as we continue to grow our podcast slate. Audio is an increasingly important part of our business as our audience and advertising partners continue to embrace audio content. Teaming up with Acast will help us take this to the next level.”
