PackScreen confirms slate

Peter Castaldi’s new distribution company PackScreen has announced its first three releases, starting with The Tumbler on September 2, followed by The Dinner Party on October 7 and How to Be a Sex Star on November 4.

“I’m dealing with individual cinemas with a minimum of five screens (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth), hoping that during the first 12 months we can build up that number. At this stage, I have to prove the business model,” Castaldi told Encore.

Castaldi has partnered with Umbrella Entertainment and True Blue to collapse traditional release windows and make the films available on DVD and through digital platforms weeks after the theatrical release – with a view to attempt simultaneous releases in the future.

PackScreen’s slate also includes Blame, to be released in October, and John Hewitt’s X, scheduled for 2011 – along with The Beautiful and Damned, Gates of Hell, Passengers and Penelope.
