New Aussie film Paper Planes made a strong debut at the box office over the weekend whilst Angelina Jolie war film Unbroken also fared well on debut as ten films broke the million dollar barrier.

Family drama Paper Planes, starring Sam Worthington, charts a young boy’s journey to compete in the world paper plane championships overcoming adversity along the way, and took $1.732m on 253 screens.

Meanwhile Jolie’s Unbroken which was filmed in Australia took $2.141m on its opening weekend putting it second in the table.
