Paramount+ has announced a premium plan will launch in Australia next month, with an advertising-supported tier to follow in 2024.

This was revealed by Paramount at the network’s upfront this morning in Sydney, where it also launched a bunch of new (but familiar-looking) content, as well as more granular advertising offerings.

The Paramount premium plan is set to launch in Australia on November 16th, offering 4K UHD, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, as well as four concurrent streams (compared to two with the standard plan). It will cost $13.99 a month, or $124.99 annually.

Rod Prosser, chief sales officer at Ten, tells Mumbrella this ad-supported model will launch in the second half of 2024, and will be “obviously, an exciting announcement to the market”.

“And then, off the back of that,” Prosser continues, “we will talk to our advertisers about how we bring that all together in a converged trading model.

“So, I think that the ability for them to tap into an SVOD [streaming video-on-demand] audience, which we know is very different to a linear audience, will be one that they’re really excited about.

“We’ve got the combination of this Paramount+ ad tier, FAST [free ad-supported TV], we’ve got SVOD, free-to-air, and all that coming together for an advertiser is going to be something that’s really exciting, because obviously it extends our reach to a whole heap of new eyeballs.”
