Paula Joye launches online venture Lifestyled
Former ACP editor Paula Joye is the latest former glossy magazine journalist to launch a website.
Lifestyled went live today.
In a video message, Joye – previously editor of ACP titles Cleo, Shop Til You Drop and Madison – said: “I’ve done a lot of things in my life but this is probably the most scary.”
Lifestyled focuses on fashion, beauty and home. As well as the website, Joye also produces a weekly email newsletter.
Joye is not the only high profile female journalist to make the move to online.
Mia Freedman – herself a former ACP editor – created the now well established Mamamia.
And former Today Tonight Presenter Naomi Robson started dating advice site The Naomi Show earlier this year, which is yet to find a mainstream audience.
Sarah Wilson, is another former ACP editor who is now online, although her blog is not a business venture.
In her launch post published this morning, Joye said: “If I’ve learnt anything in the last year it’s that the web is incredibly different from print and without question the most chaotic and unreliable form of publishing I’ve worked in.”
Interesting to see the mag queens of the world migrate over to the digital space. Mia Freedman’s site works incredibly well for her, she fills a gap in the market. While I admire Paula Joye and commend her for starting Lifestyled up, I can’t help but think this is just ANOTHER lifestyle/beauty/fashion site.
The market is simply too cluttered as it is. However, Paula Joye brings great editorial talent to her site, something that a lot of sites in this category lack. Just had a look on the site and found some great content – Go Paula!

Australia needs a good lifestyle/fashion/beauty content website
I am constantly trawling the international sites to get good info and news so iI commend the former ACP editor for jumping the fence and bringing something worthwhile to the screen!!

Nice score having Jay-Z/Beyonce outro your intro! Would have cost a bomb…

Just had a look at this website and it is fantastic and so easy to navigate. I will be saving this to my favourite websites and daily visits is a must!!
Already submitted my entry for the Bloom Competition…
Congratulations Paula.

When you say Australia “needs” a good lifestylefashionbeauty website, you mean that in the most superficial context of the word “needs”, right?

Good going!
Whilst I will forever adore the look and feel of magazines, this avenue the likes of Paula and Mia have taken provides advice and connection to those not in a position to readily ‘afford’ the glossies.
There are still advertising opportunities, and some would say a much wider and direct audience 😉

After reading Paula tell me my rooms need to be white, cupcakes are out and I must splurge on a $1400 sparkly clutch, i feel like i have spent the afternoon with ACP girls. I feel a little sick.

should be interesting – far more what i expect of ex-ACP. sarah’s blog always makes me wonder how she spent time as a Cosmo editor. Acutally i always wonder how she got the job as she talks about never having read it before she got the editorship!
