Paypal Melbourne Fashion Festival to launch with Welcome to Country

The Paypal Melbourne Fashion Festival will launch on the 3rd of March with a Welcome to Country from the Wurrundjeri Woi Wurrung and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Owners of Naarm.

The PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival launches on Thursday 3 March with a welcome from the Wurrundjeri Woi Wurrung and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Owners of Naarm, also known as Melbourne.

The Festival will be launched with a fashion infused presentation developed by the First Nations. The designers from the First Nations runway in this year’s Melbourne Fashion Festival will each display their designs in a runway brought to life with performers and entertainment. The launch will also include a traditional Smoking Ceremony to officially open this year’s festival.

The 10-day program of live and online events will be staged across multiple iconic locations around Melbourne and feature fashion, arts and workshop events for everyone to enjoy.

Schedule
9:00am: Guest arrival
9:30am: Welcome to Country commences
9:50am: Formalities and speeches commence
10:05am: Formalities conclude, media interviews and walk-through of Fashion District to follow
10:30am: Event concludes

Designer Line-Up: MAARA Collective, NGALI, Amber Days, Liandra Swim, Kirrikin, Wa-Ring and Yanggurdi.

Fashion officially takes off tonight with David Jones who will celebrate the launch of AW22 by opening the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival with the Gala Runway, presented by David Jones. The PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival is the longest-running and most culturally significant consumer fashion event in Australia. It will run from 3 – 12 March, 2022.

The 10-day hybrid program of live and online events will safely deliver a creatively charged program staged across multiple iconic locations around Melbourne, reaching audiences outside an event’s traditional borders. The stage is set for a creative and immersive shopping take-over of Melbourne and beyond.
