PayPal rewards Victorians throwing ‘iso-parties’ in lockdown

PayPal has challenged Victorians to throw their best iso-party at home to go into the running to win one of three $500 prizes.

The ‘It Pays to Keep Your Distance’ challenge first launched back in May and was open to all Australians. The new competition is only open to Victorians after the state returned to a six-week stage-three lockdown on 8 July following an increase in COVID-19 cases.

The competition kicked off on Friday and run for the next two weeks.

PayPal is rewarding those in Melbourne partaking in ‘iso-parties’

To enter, participants need to gather their family and friends virtually and share a screenshot of their party on Instagram with the hashtag #PayPalisoparty and tag PayPal AU in the post. They will also need to follow Paypal on the platform.

Each week, PayPal will select the top three party pictures and deposit $500 into the party-host’s PayPal account.

PayPal’s shopping expert, Danielle Grant, said: “Our thoughts and hopes are with Victorians in this uncertain time as they return to lockdown and are unable to visit their loved ones. Despite not being able to meet face-to-face, it doesn’t mean you have to be completely isolated. Connecting online is a great way to hang out with family and friends and look after our mental health during this challenging period.

“If you’re looking for things to do this weekend, look no further – gather your friends online and throw an iso-party. We want to see creativity, flare, and out-of-the box thinking.”

PayPal has set party themes for the two weekends of the challenge. 24 July to 28 July will be themed ‘Dine out at home’ – encouraging Victorians to order food from local restaurants. 30 July to 4 August is themed ‘Dress to impress in your best’.

Grant also shared some tips for the challenge including supporting local businesses for food, drink and decoration purchases, and using a video platform that suits the size of the group.

Winners will be judged based on the overall quality of the photo, colour, lighting, exposure and focus, composition, clarity of participants’ expression, creativity and originality, humour and audience appeal.

Participants must be 18 years or over, a legal resident of Australia, living in Victoria, not an employee or contractor of PayPal (or related to one) and have active Australian PayPal account.
