Pedestrian TV launches film festival with Matthew McConaughey’s Wild Turkey Longbranch

Pedestrian TV, Wavemaker and Wild Turkey Longbranch, a whiskey brand co-created by Matthew McConaughey, have partnered up to launch an Australian film festival called Second Batch Film Festival.

The announcement:

Pedestrian Group’s PEDESTRIAN.TV, Wavemaker and Wild Turkey Longbranch – a premium small batch whiskey brand co-created by Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey – are proud to announce the launch of the Second-Batch Film Festival: an online film festival giving young Australian filmmakers the opportunity to submit short films that, while made with love, failed to make waves at previous film festivals.

The Second-Batch Film Festival site, hosted on PEDESTRIAN.TV, will house the 10 best entries, with readers given the power to vote for their top three. P.TV will then create a documentary-style video about each of the top three and their bodies of work, to be hosted on the site alongside their films.

A panel of three local film industry heavyweights – talented film director Gracie Otto, singer and actor Eddie Baroo and breakout star Brenton Thwaites – will review the entries before making the final decision, with the lucky winner taking home a cash prize of $3,000. The runner-up will receive a bottle of Wild Turkey Longbranch signed by McConaughey himself.

To highlight the exciting new film festival, McConaughey has added his superstar power to the cause, creating a call to action video in collaboration with PEDESTRIAN.TV that encourages young filmmakers to enter. You can watch it on the official Second-Batch Film Festival site: https://www.pedestrian.tv/longbranchfilmfestival/

Rachel Tikey, Commercial Director of Pedestrian Group, says: “Creativity is at the heart of everything PEDESTRIAN.TV does – as is spotlighting up-and-coming Aussie talent – so we jumped at the opportunity to do just that with Wild Turkey. Longbranch needed a partner who could deliver on all elements of this campaign, from ideation to implementation, and we’re so excited to bring the Second-Batch Film Festival to life with them.”

Paolo Marinoni, Marketing Director of Campari Group Australia, says: “Inspired by creativity, Wild Turkey Longbranch is the collaboration between Matthew McConaughey and Master Distiller Eddie Russell. Launching the Second-Batch Film Festival with PEDESTRIAN.TV is the perfect fit for the brand and we are excited to be supporting the Aussie film industry.”

The Second-Batch Film Festival site will be taking submissions from Thursday, September 4, with the final winner announced in December 2020.

Eligible entrants need to be over 18+ and able to prove their film was submitted to, and failed to place at, a previous film festival. and comply with the other conditions listed on the site.
