Perth radio ratings: NOVA takes a bite out of MIX

In Perth, it’s all about NOVA, who extended their lead over 96FM – seemingly by taking a chunk of MIX 94.5’s listener share.

NOVA leads every age demographic under 55, and rules all timeslots aside from Evenings, which is owned by ABC Perth.

With 18.1% total share, NOVA jumped 1.1% from last survey, while second-place 96FM saw a 0.1% bump to remain in second. Mix 94.5 fell 1.1%, the biggest percentage fall across all stations.

NOVA well and truly rules breakfast in Perth, too, with Nathan, Nat & Shaun taking an impressive 22.5% market share, more than double their nearest competitor.

6PR Breakfast with Millsy and Karl, and MIX 94.5’s Pete, Matt & Kymba are equal second on 10.5% market share, with MIX falling 1.8% and 6PR down 1%.

Interestingly, 96FM’s Clairsy & Lisa gained 0.1% to remain in fourth with 10.2%. The previous survey they slid from 12.4% to 10.1%. The margin remains so tight between second and fourth place that if 96FM regain part of their former audience in Survey 6, they could reclaim their old ranking.

Drive saw NOVA’s national program of Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel cement its lead, now demanding 20.4% of the audience. That’s up from last survey’s 19.4%, and well ahead of the 17.2% the trio held in Survey 3.

96FM’s Will & Woody also gained more than a percentage point, moving to 14.9%, from 13.8%, while Mix 94.5’s Carrie & Tommy continues to bleed listeners, down 1.5% from last survey, following a previous 0.9% drop.

Head of Programming Nova 93.7 Perth David McClung said of the results: “I couldn’t be prouder of the team at Nova 93.7 today.

“With Nathan, Nat & Shaun’s best ever share result, along with a record share figure for the station, we’ve got a lot to celebrate today.”
