Former managing director of media at Nielsen Peter Cornelius is to join media auditing firm Ebiquity.

Cornelius has spent the last three years with consultancy Kinesis Media but told Mumbrella today: “I left Nielsen back in 2012 and have been doing an advisory role but I felt it was an opportune time to get back into the game.”

He replaces Ami Hall who left the firm last month and will take the role of director of client service.

Cornelius will report to Ebquity’s CEO Richard Basil-Jones, with his appointment coming just two months after the departure of the founder of the media division – formerly Faulkner Media Monitoring – Eric Faulkner.

Asked about the role Cornelius said: “Ebiquity are very close to clients and helping them navigate through this challenging new world. I look forward to doing some interesting work with them.”

Richard Basil-Jones, CEO of Ebiquity commented, in a statement: “We are excited to have Peter joining our organisation during a significant growth stage for Ebiquity in the region. He is a highly respected media and marketing professional with over 30 years’ experience in the Australian media advertising industry.”

Earlier this year the company changed its auditing processes after it was revealed staff at media agency Mediacom had been altering numbers in a bid to convince clients they were achieving their targets.

At the time Ebiquity admitted the system, based on trust, had only been 99 per cent reliable.

Previous to Nielsen, Peter had a long career with the George Patterson Bates agency group culminating in being one of the founders of Zenith Media and rising to managing director and chief negotiating officer.
