Playstation Australia rifts YouTubers Fairbairn Films into another dimension

Playstation Australia has released a new campaign featuring South Australian YouTubers Fairbairn Films Ratchet & Clack: Rift Apart.

Fairbairn Films is a YouTube duo made up of brothers Lachlan and Jaxon Fairbairn, who have 1.61 million YouTube subscribers at the time of writing.

The two minute spot sees Jaxon Fairbairn teleport his brother Lachlan to another dimension using the Omni Glove. The two argue, culminating in Jaxon rifitng away from Lachlan covered in plants.

The weapons and gadgets seen in the spot feature in the Playstation video game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Patrick Lagana, director of marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment Australia, said: “With this launch we wanted to do something that really brought the game to life – taking it out of the PlayStation 5 console and straight into people’s feeds. The team at Fairbairn Films have grown up playing this franchise, so a partnership with them felt like a perfect way to launch the title.”

Matt Holmes, executive creative director at Poem, said: “Creating social-first content that earns attention and people genuinely care about is something we’re passionate about. By using official VFX assets from the developer, Insomniac Studios, and selecting authentic and upcoming Aussie social talent like the Fairbairn boys enabled us to bring the game to life locally, in a fittingly bizarre and fun way to both our core gaming and a mainstream Australian audience.”

The campaign will run on Playstation Australia owned social channels and Fairbairn Films social pages. The paid digital has been implemented by Mediacom.

Poem’s previous campaign for Playstation featured musician Tash Sultana.
