Poor showing for Australia and New Zealand at Webby Awards
Australia and New Zealand failed to win big at this year’s Webby Awards, with AIM Proximity taking the telecommunications category for its Yellow Pages work.
The only other obvious winner was Profero Sydney, which was named the People’s Voice Winner in the interactive advertising, rich media category for its NAPCAN Cyber Bullying Affects Real Lives campaign.
(Update: The lengthy Webby winners list is not labelled by country so it is possible to overlook local wins – see the comments thread for the addition of 99 Designs)
The win for AIM Proximity was for The Yellow Treehouse, with the agency answering the brief to prove that any job can be done using the Yellow Pages.
Last year, Australian and New Zealand agencies faired better with a number of Webby wins and people’s voice awards.
Webby winners last year included The Hyperfactory and Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney.
People’s voice winners last year included The White Agency for its Tourism Australia website; The Hyperfactory and Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney won in the in integrated mobile experience category for its UN Voices project; and the Lonely Planet in the travel category.
99 Designs won the People’s Choice award in the Best Services & Applications category, they’re based here in Melbourne.

Love it. Take the pub on a container ship out of the Speight’s Beer Delivery and insert building a restaurant in a tree-house!
Follow the blogs of those involved, partner with a TV show to follow progress along with other reach building mediums like outdoor.

Nice to win one for NFP 🙂 Well done to the team here at Profero. Oh and a big shout out to all the Aussie & Kiwi agencies who were recognized with noms and awards this year.
