PR agency separates media relations function into offshoot agency

Melbourne-based PR agency Parkyoung has moved its media relations function into new offshoot agency, The Ledbetter Agency.

It will be led by Jaselyn O’Sullivan, formerly head of Bellamyhaden’s PR operations in Sydney.

Parkyoung partner, Trevor Young, said while setting up a separate media relations arm seemed counter intuitive to some, it made sense for the agency.

“It might sound strange a PR consulting firm setting up a separate media relations arm, especially during these times when everyone is rushing to establish their social media credentials, but that is exactly why it makes sense.

“Having The Ledbetter Agency allows Parkyoung to focus more on developing and implementing broader communications programs.

“PR today is a complex beast. While the social web is becoming more and more pervasive in our industry, traditional media relations work remains important. For some clients, that is all they require from a PR agency.”

O’Sullivan has also worked with Young at his previous agency, Spark.
