PR conference to stretch from space to God

The Public Relations Institute of Australia national conference will be held in Darwin next month with speakers including  Vatican representative Monsignor Paul Tighe and Virgin Galatic’s Stephen Attenborough.

The announcement:

Representatives from the Vatican, Virgin Galatic and James Hardie will be in Darwin next month to speak at the 2010 Public Relations Institute of Australia National Conference.

Monsignor Paul Tighe, Virgin Galatic’s Stephen Attenborough and James Hardie PR guru Sean O’Sullivan head up a list of high profile communication experts who will speak at the two-day conference.

PRIA National President Robina Xavier said this year’s conference, themed PR in a Different Space, draws on communication professionals from various fields and backgrounds.

“The keynote addresses, workshops and panel discussions will inspire and encourage participants to do what they do best in a different space or from a new perspective,” Ms Xavier said.

“There’ll be case studies including that from Jessica Watson’s Manager Andrew Fraser on her round the world voyage and the BBC’s Louise Alley on bringing Top Gear to Australia.

“Charles Darwin’s great grandson Chris Darwin promises to be interesting as he looks at whether Charles really was a great scientist or simply a PR genius.”

The conference includes eight keynote addresses and forty speakers over nine streams in a line-up that promises to get public relations and communications professionals ‘all hot under the collar’, according to Ms Xavier.

“If you’ve ever wanted to have dinner with the Vatican or a man that’s flown to the moon or simply get the scoop on best practice PR, then you should attend the 2010 PRIA Conference.”

The 2010 Conference program includes a Gala Dinner and the 2010 Golden Target Awards for PR Excellence.
