Pro Bono for Purpose returns after successful launch year
MediaCast’s ‘Pro Bono for Purpose’ initiative has returned.
The announcement:
After a successful launch in 2024, Pro Bono for Purpose is back to provide not-for-profit organisations and charities the opportunity to harness the power of public relations and drive significant and sustainable change.
MediaCast’s ‘Pro Bono for Purpose’ grants are tailored towards NFPs and charities across Australia, giving them the chance to receive a $5,000 or $10,000 grant for media relations. The grants are designed to give organisations the opportunity to build momentum through media relations and amplify their message across radio, tv, print and digital outlets.
Fran Chalmers, managing director of MediaCast, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “We were absolutely blown away by the quantity and quality of submissions we received for last years’ grants program and we are so excited to be taking on new submissions for campaigns to be delivered in 2025.
“At MediaCast, we have a long history of working alongside some truly incredible charities and we know the impact that a great PR campaign can deliver. With our ‘Pro Bono for Purpose’ grants, we want to give NFPs that might not have a budget for PR the opportunity to experience that impact firsthand and raise awareness for their cause,” Fran said.
Cavill Stone, director of clients, people & culture at MediaCast, highlighted the importance of teamwork in selecting the deserving recipients and encouraging everyone to get involved in the new initiative.
“We received over 140 submissions for our program last year, and it was extremely difficult to narrow it down to just four! We involved our team in the selection process and awarded some truly incredible charities with $30,000 worth of media relations support,” Cavill says.
The 2024 recipients included DV Safe Phone, Motherless Daughters, Gather My Crew and the Emergency Medicine Foundation. The campaigns made an incredible impact across communities around Australia with founders reporting back increased engagement across socials, new app downloads, increased donations and greater awareness within their industries.
Gather My Crew founder Susan Palmer said of the opportunity, “for so many small charities, engaging a media company is financially prohibitive, making this truly invaluable. By assisting us to raise awareness, this collaboration brings Gather My Crew closer to our vision for Australia – where every person going through a tough time (cancer, accident, illness, sudden death, disaster) is surrounded by a ‘support crew’ of helpers.”
To qualify for the MediaCast ‘Pro Bono for Purpose’ grant, organisations must meet specific criteria, including having clear objectives to create a positive impact through a media relations campaign. Grant
applications close on the 29th November, and applicants must be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and based in Australia.
The grant can be used to cover the full value or part value of a media relations campaign. The successful grant applicants will be notified by the 20th December 2024, and MediaCast are encouraging all eligible organisations to apply!
