Q&A with Georgina Brujic – managing director of Pacific+

Georgina BrujicIn a Q&A that first appeared in Encore, Georgina Brujic, managing director of Pacific+, explains what she has in common with AAMI’s Rhonda.

Who is the most powerful person in Australian media and why?

It’s the consumer. They influence the media output more than any one specific person of note.

What one medium could you not live without?

Magazines. They are, after all, created and curated based on an understanding of who I am and what I believe in. I consume them in both digital and print formats.

Your one guilty media pleasure?

I have so many but give me a good glass of red wine, a cosy spot in the sun and a copy of The New Yorker and I am in heaven.

The next big industry trend is…

Doing something with all the data we have accumulated on our customers. Personalisation perhaps?

If you weren’t doing this for a living what would you be doing?

I would be building and decorating houses.

Your best piece of career advice…

Focus on the things that will contribute to success and always think like you own the business.

If you could poach any one person, who would it be?

It would be someone from my own team so fortunately I don’t have to worry about poaching them.

Would you recommend working in this industry to your kids?

Absolutely, my advice to my boys has always been that passion breeds a successful career and I think that my 22-year-old, Kristofer, will end up in media.

What is your favourite Aussie ad?

The Rhonda and Ketut series for AAMI brings back fantastic holiday memories and appeals to me on so many levels. It is a fantastic campaign for the AAMI brand.

Georgina Brujic is the managing director of Pacific+, the custom publishing arm of Pacific Magazines.
