Radio market recovery gathers pace
The radio industry is continuing its recovery, with advertising revenues up by 11% in September compared to the same time last year, figures released by Commercial Radio Australia suggest.
The five capital cities radio market was worth an estimated $60.65m in September according to the Deloitte data.
Growth included:
Perth $7.98m: +18.38%
Brisbane $9.5m: +12.9%
Sydney $19.03m +11.82%
Melbourne $18.8m +11.58%
Adelaide $5.3m +2.28%
The month before saw a 17% jump in revenues thanks to political advertising around the election.
I believe that in Sydney part of the rise is due to Classic Rock increasing their rates to $1.20 per 30 second commercial.

I am sure both their listeners are worth it.

Significant increase off the back of a relatively dark year in 09. Still, a strong rebound. NSW state election in early 11 will help FY11 numbers.
The increase is because unlike many other forms of mass media, radio actually works!!
