Rapid Media begins surfing school for kids

Rapid Media has begun a Tasmanian surfing program for 20 kids.

The announcement:

Rapid Media last night gave the gift of surfing to twenty (20) lucky school kids on the North West Coast of Tasmania.

Rapid Media’s Managing Director Vaughan O’Connor grew up surfing on the North West Coast of Tasmania and wanted to give back to the sport he loves in his home town by giving local kids the chance to surf and providing them with everything they need to get started thanks to the Rapid Media team, whose connections at the Beacon Foundation, Rip Curl, JR Surfboards and Billabong also assisted with the project.

Ten boys and ten girls were selected from a number of submissions from children at secondary schools in the coastal towns of the North West Coast wanting to participate in the program, and they were last night presented with their brand new surfboards, wetsuits, board bags, fins and leg
ropes to start their surfing journey.

“There are a lot of excited kids that will now get to enjoy a healthy sport that can become a passion that lets them escape the stresses of everyday life every time they hit the water. Our business has started to create our own projects tied to our passions that promote goodwill and hope for young people around Australia, and this is the first of these types of initiatives,” said O’Connor.

Due to Covid restrictions preventing physical travel into Tasmania, Rapid Media had to make the presentation remotely via Zoom with the aid of friends and families on the ground.
