REA Group makes redundancies as overseas competitor looms
News Corp’s REA Group, parent company of realestate.com.au, has confirmed a number of job losses in its technology team, as it moves its development to India.
The company confirmed a restructuring of internal teams has resulted in a “limited number of redundancies which in total impact less than 4% of our technology team”.
In 2022, REA Group employed over 500 developers, which would equate to around 20 redundancies — if the team has remained the same size.
Sorry, Costar, Domain, whatever you want to be called.
Aussies love REA, good luck trying to displace the reigning champs.
“By simplifying our team structures to create faster and more flexible ways of working we can continue to deliver the best outcomes for our consumers”
Simplifying by moving development to India? What ballocks REA. Adding a new dependency to the delivery portfolio is anything but simplifying. This is cost cutting move. Another company that makes $$ on Aussies and shipping money overseas. As bad as labour govt is they should start taxing these companies more.
