Reddit introduces raft of new features, including live audio product
Reddit today launched a raft of new global product features to Reddit Talk across desktop, web, and iOS/Android apps.
The announcement:
These features are aimed at increasing Reddit Talk engagement and making it easier to find Reddit Talks in communities people belong to.
Here’s how all the new features work:
• Recordings – When a redditor visits a Reddit Talk post from a past live session, they will be able to listen to a recording of it wherever they use Reddit, including on web and our native apps.
• Web Experiences – we’re expanding Reddit Talk beyond our native apps by enabling Reddit Talk – along with speaker and host controls – to web users.
• Comments and Emojis – We are also enabling emoji and text comments so any redditors can actively participate in a Talk. Previously, redditors who were listening to a Talk were able to raise their hand to join the stage, but couldn’t comment in real time. Enabling comments and emojis makes Talks easier to engage with, even without speaking.
• Live Bar – We are rolling out a live bar experiment at the top of the home feed that highlights what Reddit Talks are currently happening and makes it easier for redditors to discover Reddit Talks in the communities they love.
