Richard Wilkins fronts Nine’s #slowthespread CSA, supporting Australians during self isolation

Richard Wilkins, who contracted COVID-19 after interacting with Rita Wilson on Today Extra, has fronted an ad for Nine imploring Australians to help prevent the spread of the virus.

The CSA also features a number of Nine personalities, including Rebecca Maddern who feared for her family when she heard Wilkins had tested positive and also had to self isolate.

The video also features David Campbell speaking about the struggle of not being able to have contact with his kids during the testing process, following contact with Wilson on Today Extra.

Nine stars including Erin Molan, Allison Langdon, Ben Fordham, Tom Steinfort, Shelley Craft and Hamish Blake also share messages of support for Australians, encouraging them to wash their hands and slow the spread.

Nine has also put a social distancing spin on its logo as part of the #slowthespread message.

Director of television, Michael Healy, said Nine has an important role in supporting the government’s communications.

“This is an important time for the Australian community to unite and do all we can to #stopthespread. Channel 9 knows we have an important role in supporting the government’s messaging and I’m so proud of all our presenters, journalists and other on-air talent who came together quickly to get this important message out there,” Healy said.

“Together we can flatten the curve.”
