Rival steps in to save Travel Bulletin from scrap heap

TravelBulletin2Travel industry trade publication Travel Bulletin has been saved from the scrap heap after being taken over by daily news site Travel Daily.

Publishers of the monthly title Ian McMahon and Eddie Raggett said earlier this week they were “reluctantly” closing the publication after 10 years after failing to find a buyer. They cited heath and lifestyle reasons for the decision to call it a day.

But Travel Daily yesterday revealed it has entered into “swift negotiations” with McMahon and Raggett and “reached a deal to take it over”. No fee was disclosed.

Travel Daily publisher Bruce Piper said: “Ian McMahon and Eddie Raggett have taken Travel Bulletin to become the unquestioned leader in the Australian travel trade print publishing.

“We look forward to building on their legacy, continuing Travel Bulletin’s strong reputation for incisive analysis, destination updates and exceptional editorial.”

Travel Daily, which produces a daily PDF newsletter, said the next issue of Travel Bulletin will be published in August.

In a statement on its website, McMahon said he and Raggett will “work closely” with the new owners and described the in-depth analysis on industry issues “the perfect complement to Travel Daily’s comprehensive daily round-up of breaking news”.
