Rove & Sam exit, with McManus telling listeners ‘Don’t come looking for us Monday. We won’t be here’

2Day FM’s failed experiment of pairing veteran presenter Rove McManus with former The Bachelor contestant Sam Frost finally came to an end on Friday night.

In a low key ending to their final show together in which there were no farewells until the final 90 seconds, McManus told listeners: “That brings us to the end of Rove and Sam. Don’t come looking for us Monday. We won’t be here. We’re going to the farm.”

Rove and Sam: ‘We’re going to the farm’

The duo’s national 7-8pm Rove & Sam show across Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit Network lasted for just five months.

The pair previously spent a year in the Sydney breakfast slot before being bumped at the start of 2017 to make way for Em Rusciano and Harley Breen.

McManus will continue to work with network on “a new project”, while Frost’s contact expired on Friday and has not been renewed.

In an emailed statement SCA told Mumbrella: “Rove and Sam’s 7-8 pm show on the Hit Network will finish up today, June 30. Rove’s remaining within the SCA family and working on a new project with another part of our business. Sam’s contract has now ended and we wish her well with her coming up TV work.”

It is unclear who will be replacing the duo on air.

The pair’s program page appeared to have already been deleted from 2DayFM’s website, with the link now going to an error message.

The Rove & Sam page no longer exists

In the next few weeks McManus will be guesting as a co-host on Ten’s The Project, which is produced by his production company Roving Enterprises.

Frost is due to appear as a contestant in Seven’s Hell’s Kitchen with Marco Pierre White.
