Sales and marketing job ads see January rise

Online job ads for the sales and marketing sectors rose 11.04 per cent during January signalling a return to confidence.

According to the latest Olivier Job Index, overall the number of job ads rose 3.59 per cent during the month, led by Western Australia which saw growth of 7.47 per cent.

Robert Olivier, Olivier Group director, said: “Marketing jobs suffered significantly during the GFC, so this is another sign of confidence.”

Meanwhile, human resources led the growth among the sectors, up 11.52 per cent during the month.

“December and January are always volatile months in the job market, so we interpret this data cautiously. But the signs are clear, new jobs are being advertised. These results suggest employers remained confident, despite widespread fears of another interest rate rise,” Olivier said.
