Sam Frost joins cast of Home & Away on Seven
Seven has announced that “Australia’s sweetheart”, former star of The Bachelorette on Ten and Rove & Sam on Southern Cross Austrereo’s Hit Network, will join its long-running soap Home & Away.
It is the second project Frost will undertake with Seven, after she was also announced as a contestant on upcoming cooking competition Hell’s Kitchen.
Julie McGauran, Seven’s head of drama said Frost would be a natural.
“Sam exudes a genuine warmth and kindness. Her natural ease in front of the camera makes her a wonderful addition to the Home and Away family,” she said.
Frost said her latest television venture was a dream come true.
“Home and Away is a show I grew up watching with my family,” Frost said. “To become part of this iconic television show is a real honour, I can’t wait to start shooting.”
Frost first came to national attention in 2014 during season two of Ten’s The Bachelor when Blake Garvey chose her as his partner, proposing in the final episode.
The finale pulled 1.374m metro viewers after intense media speculation that the couple had broken up prior to the show’s airing.
Frost was given a second shot as Australia’s first Bachelorette in 2015. It is thus far the most successful season of The Bachelorette, with 875,000 tuning in for the premiere and1.52m metro viewers watching the finale when she chose Sascha Mielczarek as her leading man, despite spoilers appearing on The Daily Mail Australia.
In late 2015 Frost was announced as the co-host for Rove McManus on Southern Cross Austereo’s Sydney breakfast show on 2Day FM after Dan & Maz were removed.
Once Frost’s contract ended, the radio company did not renew it, with the national evening spot instead being filled by highlights from the new Sydney breakfast show The Em Rusciano Radio Show with Harley Breen.
Please, please – can someone explain to me the career opportunities this woman has been given? She’s already proved she had no talent for radio, and now she is being given an acting gig that hundreds of trained unemployed actors would kill for. It baffles me.
I don’t get her appeal at all. If someone can explain her, please do so as I’m lost.

you took the words out of my mouth @confused. Why is she being given so many golden opportunities that people with far more talent and experience are not? What’s the big deal about this woman?

Completely agree – why oh why, do FTA networks always do this…She must have an insanely good agent. Reality stars have an allocated 15 mins of fame, then they should move along for the next one and perhaps become an social media influencer or start a handbag line….zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Me too – i’m so confused! There’s a definite lack of talent and I hate to say it but (edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy)…..so confused

To the doubters – Sam Frost connects with young females and is seen by them as both genuine and aspirational. A rare combination and one that C7 clearly sees and is investing in for the future.

Yes Gezza, that might all be true – but does she have the SKILLS to do this job? A job that does require something called talent?
So far, her skills – aside from milking social media – seem pretty limited.

@Gezza — she can’t be connecting THAT well with the masses given the abysmal ratings achieved for her recent, ill-fated radio show.

Handing out a rose does not maketh a career in radio or television. Maybe floristry.
