Sandy Levy reappointed as CEO of AFTRS

Senator the Hon George Brandis, Attorney-General and Minister for the Arts has announced the reappointment of Sandra Levy as chief executive officer of the Australian Film Television and Radio School.

The announcement:

I am pleased to announce the reappointment of Ms Sandra Levy AO as Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).

Sandra Levy is an experienced and respected screen industry professional and I am delighted that Ms Levy has agreed to continue in her role at AFTRS for a further year. Australians should have access to an arts-rich education and AFTRS provides valuable training for Australia’s screen and radio practitioners of tomorrow. The Hollywood Reporter recently cited AFTRs as one of the top 25 film schools in the world and Australians deserve to be justly proud of the standard of training which this outstanding institution provides.

An award-winning film and television producer, Ms Levy has held the position of CEO since 2007. During her tenure at Australia’s national screen arts and broadcast school it has consistently achieved strong results for students and the film and broadcasting sector.

Under her leadership, AFTRS has introduced new strategies and partnerships to better connect with, and reflect the needs of, the screen and broadcasting industries at its industry- standard facilities. Ms Levy has also been instrumental in the creation of the Television Unit and established the successful AFTRS Open program.

Ms Levy was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the General Division of the 2014 Queen’s Birthday Honours for distinguished service to the arts as a film and television director and producer, and through strategic leadership and educational roles.

I congratulate Ms Levy on her reappointment and her award, and look forward to working with her over the next 12 months.
