SBS appoints Wendy Stahel to head up DVD sales

SBS has appointed BBC Worldwide’s Wendy Stahel to the handle its DVD retail.  This follows it passing the one million mark for sales this month.  

The announcement

SBS has appointed Wendy Stahel, formerly Home Entertainment Manager with BBC Worldwide Australia, to head up its DVD retail and non theatric catalogues as SBS’s DVD sales hit a record one million this month.

In the role, Stahel will report directly to National Manager, Consumer Publishing, Sharon Ramsay-Luck.

Stahel will be responsible for leading and managing the DVD team, as well as overseeing all marketing activity for SBS DVDs and managing distributor and key stakeholder relationships.

Prior to joining SBS, Stahel spent 19 years at the BBC where she began in the role of Sales Executive, Program Sales before taking on the role of Home Entertainment Manager.

“Wendy comes to SBS with a wealth of experience from her time at the BBC. As a specialist in DVD distribution management and with a great deal of experience in public broadcasting, I have no doubt she is going to be a valuable addition to the management team,” said Ramsay-Luck.

On her appointment at SBS, Stahel said: “I am thrilled to be working with the SBS DVD team on a DVD catalogue that connects with all Australians by telling their stories. I am confident that we will develop many opportunities to further drive our sales success.”

Wendy’s appointment comes as SBS celebrates a record one million DVD sales. The success of titles such as Skins, Food Safari, Wilfred and First Australians has cemented SBS DVD’s position as a leading player in the Australian DVD landscape.
