SBS celebrates Lunar New Year with unique mix of programming

To celebrate the Lunar New Year and welcome in the Year of the Rat, SBS will be curating a range of programming across its network from Monday January 20.

SBS welcomes the Year of the Rat with a range of programming across network

SBS is encouraging all Australians to celebrate Lunar New Year with a distinct mix of programs and activities launching across the network from today, Monday 20 January.

SBS Director of Audio and Language Content, Mandi Wicks said: “SBS is committed to celebrating Australia’s multicultural events, encouraging all Australians to embrace our rich diversity.

“We’re thrilled to be marking Lunar New Year with a season of special programming across the network, including new SBS shows with Simplified Chinese subtitles as part of our Chinese Collection available on SBS On Demand, along with themed movies and documentaries.”

During Lunar New Year festivities, SBS Radio broadcasters will be out in the community attending events across Sydney and Melbourne. Visitors can meet the faces behind the voices of SBS Radio’s Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese language services and capture all the fun at the SBS Radio photo booth. Additionally, SBS will feature a range of Lunar New Year content online at sbs.com.au/LNY20.

Elsewhere on the network, SBS will celebrate with several shows, including Aerial Asia, narrated by celebrity chef Adam Liaw, Asian films on weeknights on SBS World Movies and a weekly prime time movie on SBS VICELAND. SBS Food will showcase Lunar New Year inspired travel food shows and SBS On Demand’s Chinese Collection will include new series’ with Simplified Chinese subtitles and an Asian Epics movie collection.
