SCA to rebrand Townsville and Newcastle stations under Triple M network
Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) is set to rebrand its Townsville and Newcastle stations, placing them under the Triple M banner.
Townsville’s 4TO FM is to be renamed Triple M Townsville from September 3, while Newcastle’s KO FM will be renamed Triple M Newcastle from November 9.
The two stations will add to Triple M’s current offering, which includes 36 stations nationally and four digital Triple M stations.
The rebrand is part of a broader alignment plan for SCA which will see regional stations sit under the Triple M and Hit Network brands. Earlier this year, SCA rebranded Bundaberg’s Sea FM to 93.1 Triple M.
The rebranding also follows SCA’s realignment of its digital stations with analog, to ultimately allow advertisers a buy a package deal.
Both stations will continue to produce local shows and content for listeners. In addition, Triple M’s national drive show with Jane Kennedy and Mick Molloy will be added to the afternoon lineup, running from 4pm to 6pm. Triple M NRL Call will also run during League’s season, from Thursday to Sunday.
SCA’s head of content for regional radio, Mickey Maher, said he was excited to bring the “iconic media brands” to Newcastle and Townsville.
“We are proud and passionate about the communities we are part of and the local content we deliver.”
Kennedy Molloy and the NRL are both already on the 2 stations and have been since January this year for KM and the footy for many years.
All this is is a rename. No changes to programs or music.
