ScreenWest announces projects to receive funding through Pozible’s 3to1 scheme

ScreenWest has announced the six projects it will fund through the 3to1 funding scheme, run in conjunction with crowdfunding site Pozible.

The announcement:

Culture and the Arts Minister John Day yesterday announced the six recipients of State Government’s world-first crowdfunding initiative 3 to 1.

Mr Day said the influx of support by the Western Australian public to ScreenWest’s initiative had resulted in the development of new projects and, if the public continued its support, there was the possibility of more projects entering into development.

“The 3 to 1 initiative has had an amazing response from the public who have chosen to pledge more than $220,000 on WA short films, web series and interactive projects,” he said.

“Six cutting edge projects received public pledges of between $7,500 and $25,000 within 30 hours of the initiative going live – this has been matched by funds of between $22,500 and $75,000 from the State Government through ScreenWest.

“Two other projects met their target after the $250,000 ScreenWest funding pool was exhausted and will proceed in a scaled down version.”

The six projects to receive 3 to 1 funding are: a short film starring Emma Booth called Tango Underpants; Greenfield, a character-driven dramatic web series about how hard it is to be accepted for who you really are; a short film based on the tough life of a shearer called MAN The Movie; a stop motion animation from an award-winning animation team about Thomas Edison called Edison: Adventures in Power; a comedy web series about how you can’t choose your imaginary friends called Zac and Me; and a short film which will turn the Midland Workshops into snow-swept Soviet-era Russia using the magic of CGI called Factory 293.

The Minister said the projects still had more than 80 days to raise additional funding or to reach their funding targets and proceed in a pared back version.

“I encourage everyone to view the projects on the Pozible website and continue to support our WA artists as the result will be more creative work in the State, all chosen by the people of Western Australia,” Mr Day said.
