Sefiani and Clarity Global release 2025 Crisis Report on navigating uncertainty

Sefiani has published the second annual Clarity Global Crisis Report, focusing on the topic ‘Navigating Crisis in the Age of Uncertainty’.

The announcement:

Leading communications agency Sefiani, part of Clarity Global, is pleased to launch the second annual Clarity Global Crisis Report, this year focused on “Navigating Crisis in the Age of Uncertainty”.

Sydney-based Robyn Sefiani, president ANZ & Reputation Counsel and Clarity Global Crisis Council lead, said: “Our latest report is a study in modern crisis and reputation management with perspectives written by Clarity Global Crisis Council members at the front lines of crisis management.

“It draws on the lived experience of our crisis management experts around the world and provides a blueprint for effective crisis preparedness, crisis response, and communication and digital strategies for best practice reputation management,” she said.

“Boards, leadership teams, and communication professionals observing the rise and rise of the corporate crisis will be increasingly aware that the ways in which organisations prepare for and respond to reputational threats have rapidly evolved.

“We recognise that the speed, complexity and emotional intensity of crises today fundamentally differs from those of even a few years ago and this is what we set out to address,” said Sefiani.

London-based Rachel Gilley, CEO of Clarity Global said: “Let’s be honest: crisis is no longer the exception. It’s the environment we all operate in. Whether it’s a cyber attack, a social media firestorm, a deepfake scandal, or something else no one saw coming, how you respond can make or break your brand. If you’re still dusting off a PDF crisis plan when the heat is on, you’re already behind.”

As AI continues to take the world by storm, Robyn Sefiani and Clarity USA Partner and Crisis Council member, Jason Wakeford explore the “duality” of AI as both an opportunity and a threat for crisis and reputational risk management, while also examining the importance of human oversight in AI deployment.

Sydney-based Nick Owens, president corporate & crisis communications, examines the importance of building ‘muscle memory’ in crisis preparedness and planning, first espoused by American President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and still true today in building corporate confidence for crisis response.

Clarity’s London-based chief digital officer, Tom Telford, unpacks the recent cyberattack on UK retail giant Marks & Spencer, an instance where digital-first crisis communications efforts protected brand reputation under pressure. Cyber breaches continue as a top concern for boards and leadership teams, with many forecasts indicating organisations must expect breach activity, and be prepared to respond rapidly.

Other perspectives address authenticity, empathy and cross-functional leadership in crisis response; the importance of secure digital footprints; the power of resilient internal culture; and field-tested lessons from the frontlines, including how a brand can emerge stronger after an expertly managed crisis.

New members announced for Clarity Global Crisis Council

Clarity Global is also pleased to announce the appointment of two South Africa-based crisis management specialists to the Clarity Global Crisis Council: Dani Cohen, based in Cape Town and Sandra Sowray, based in Johannesburg, both co-Directors of reputation firm Prolog Consulting.

Robyn Sefiani commented: “Dani and Sandra have substantial experience handling the most difficult situations in differing jurisdictions in Africa’s Sub-Sahara region requiring nuanced understanding and approaches. Added to that is their successful track record in litigation, advocacy and regulatory support in those markets. We are thrilled they are joining our high-calibre global crisis council.”
