Senator Derryn Hinch quits Crikey column

Victorian senator and media personality Derryn Hinch has resigned from his column at Crikey after two years.

Hinch first launched the Crikey-exclusive column – Hinch’s Senate Diary – in August 2016. It promised to ‘expose the inner workings of Parliament House, giving readers behind-the-scenes access to life as a first-term MP.

But today that has come to an end, with Hinch citing ‘style and content’ issues.

“This is a first. For somebody who has been sacked 16 times over five decades, it’s quite an unusual expereince to be announcing a resignation. After two years of chronicling life as a Senate cross-bencher for Crikey, I have decided to part ways,” Hinch wrote.

“Let’s say we had some ‘style and content’ issues. And I’m too old to change.”

Crikey declined to comment further.
