Seven revamps 7Travel website

Seven West Media has relaunched its travel website 7Travel with plans to enter the travel agency business.

Originally launched in August last year, the revamped platform will see 7Travel promote travel deals to its audiences across the Seven TV network, its digital properties and its Pacific Magazines titles.

7Travel will promote package deals to viewers

Seven says the move is part of its strategy to diversify “beyond linear television and publishing assets.”

Coinciding with the Sunrise program’s current tour across Australia, the relaunched service’s initial marketing partners are Carnival Cruise Line, Tourism and Events Queensland, Destination Gold Coast, Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, New Caledonia Tourism and Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Rather than being part of the company’s publishing operation Pacific Magazines, the initiative will sit under the Seven Sales team and be lead by Lisa Squillace, Seven’s director of program partnership. The venture follows last week’s launch of the My7Christmas gifting service.

Squillace told Mumbrella that there are no plans to launch a new publication or program but the venture will tie into Sunrise, The Morning Show, Better Homes and Gardens, MKR and House Rules along with New Idea.

“The launch of 7travel draws on our key marketing strengths and opens new opportunities for our advertisers to further connect with our audiences 1:1 and deliver new engaged audiences to our marketing partners,” said Squillace in a media statement.

“Our advertisers use our platforms to inspire Australians every day.  Now we offer a significant e-commerce platform which closes the loop: not only can we share the stories of great holiday destinations, we now provide the platform for Australians to plan, book, travel and share their holiday experience. ”

7Travel will appear across Seven’s media assets as well as its Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels.

This story has been revised following a reader pointing out the 7Travel site was originally launched last year.
