Seven News dominates ratings as world’s attention turns to Nice terror attack

On a normally quiet night for news broadcasters Seven News saw more than one million metropolitan viewers tune in as the tragic news from the French terror attack continued to unfold.

Seven News LogoThe network’s 6pm bulletin drew 146,000 more viewers than Nine News with 1.016m viewers compared to Nine’s 860,000.

Predictably news dominated the night, wth Seven News/Today Tonight at 6.30pm drawing 861,000 and Nine News at 6.30 watched by 810,000 metro viewers.

Ten, however, saw its earlier Eyewitness News at 5pm draw just 541,000 people.

Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens was the most watched general entertainment show, with an auidence of 679,000, just ahead of the ABC News at 7pm with 666,000 and Seven’s The Chase Australia at 5pm with 651,000.

Family Feud (6pm) and The Living Room (7.30pm) rounded out the top 10 shows, with audiences of 552,000 and 550,000 respectively.

In the clash of the sporting codes, Sevens AFL Friday ninght match was the winner with 425,000 across Melbourne and Adelaide while the NRL’s Friday night game on Nine drew 312,000 people across Sydney and Brisbane.
