Seven to launch digital offering next week
Channel Seven has announced it will launch its digital offering 7TWO next Sunday November 1.
Tim Worner, Seven’s director of programming and production said the channel will be a natural extension of the network’s primary channel. “We’ve been strategic in putting together a program schedule for 7TWO that allows us to grow our audience between our two channels, without sacrificing one for the other. It is a complementary relationship that will go from strength to strength maximising the opportunities for our audience and clients,” he said.
Programming on digital channel 72 will begin at Noon on November 1 with the first programme to air, Michael Jackson’s 30th Anniversary Concert.
The new channel is said to offer a mix of movies, lifestyle, reality and comedy including specialised “themed nights” of Action and Adventure, Lifestyle and Movies. It will also premiere episodes of previous hit shows for Seven, Lost, Ugly Betty, Heroes and 24.
Seven TV presenter since 2001, Tom Williams has been appointed the face of 7TWO after his work on shows, Dancing with the Stars, The Great Outdoors, Gladiators and the Torino and Beijing Olympics.
The channel’s website is now live and includes programming for its first week.

…In other words – “we don’t really have a clue what we’re doing and we baulked at the name “Mate” at the last minute when a school friend of the CEO’s son said it was lame so we’ll just throw some crap we have lying around against the wall and see if it sticks…”
Still, I didn’t expect them to do anything different…
