Seven to relaunch Sunrise in January
Seven is gearing up to relaunch its top-rating breakfast programme Sunrise on Janaury 25.
The hint came in to a highlights reel uploaded onto the station’s YouTube channel today.
Although Sunrise has held a consistent lead over Nine’s Today show, there have been times where it has come close to being overtaken.
According to OzTam figures, the programme, hosted by David Koch and Melissa Doyle, yesterday was 9 per cent up on Nine’s Today show in total viewers, in the competitive 6-9am time slot.
The broadcaster has led in breakfast television since 2004 to the present.
The episode that aired on April 10 this year however marked the first time Today had managed to beat Sunrise in five years. It attracted 279,000 viewers nationally, compared to Sunrise’s 275,000.
Seven declined to comment on the details of the relaunch.
Please tell me they are getting rid of that revolting creature Kochie!

And put back again…
The question is: were there any fast edits between the two videos?
I love the way it frames Sunrise as hard hitting news, single handedly covering all the major news stories. Pure gold.

I’m with Warlach on this. I watched the show last week for the first time in about 2 years. Light and fluffy is an understatement. What the video does not show is how they cross from 10 seconds of serious news to Mel and Kochie in Santa hats laughing over a fun things for Christmas day cross to someone at a school in Dubbo. It’s so lowest common denominator even that denominator are embarrassed by it. It would be interesting to know how many people are tuned into Radio National at that time.

Mel has the personality of dry paint. Kochie not much better. To me the interaction on Nine’s Today show is superior.

Mel in Clip: “Its just the same story we’ve been hearing all morning.” haha. Sums up the show quite nicely.
