Seven wins the night with Border Patrol as Ten’s Big Bash does well in the demos

KFC Big Bash leagueIn a quiet evening in television, Seven’s Border Patrol was the most watched non-news show of the evening with 749,000 metro viewers helping Seven to a winning audience share of 19 per cent ahead of Nine’s share of 17.7 per cent.

Ten managed an audience share of 14.3 per cent with the second session of game four of the Big Bash, which saw Sydney Thunder take on the Brisbane Heat,  its most watched show with an audience of 723,000 metro viewers. Session one of the match had an audience of 583,000 viewers. Session two was the most watched show across the 16-39 and 18-49 demographics.

Nine’s most watched non-news show of the evening was Domestic Blitz – The Block to the Rescue which pulled an audience of 581,000 viewers in the 7pm timeslot, it was out-rated by Seven’s Boarder Patrol.

In the 8pm timeslot, Seven’s Coastwatch Oz grabbed an audience of 677,000 viewers, beating Nine’s 60 Minutes which was watched by 535,000 metro viewers.

The ABC grabbed a share of 9.2 per cent, with Antique Roadshow at 7.40pm its most watched non-news show with an audience of 487,000 viewers.

In news Seven won the night with a metro audience of 910,000 at 6pm while Nine News settled for an audience of 904,000. ABC News at 7pm was watched by 608,000 while Ten Eyewitness News at 5pm pulled a crowd of 516,000.

In the secondary channels, Nine’s GO! had an audience share of 7.6 per cent with an episode of The Big Bang Theory watched by 300,000 metro viewers.  Ten’s One grabbed a share of 5.4 per cent with movie Gangs of New York watched by 215,000. 7Two managed a share of 4.9 per cent as Nine’s Gem and Ten’s Eleven both grabbed a share of 3.8 per cent. 7Mate settled for a share of 3.4 per cent.

Looking back over the weekend, Friday’s match between the Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades was watched by 588,000 metro viewers during session two with a metro audience of 559,000 for session one. This was down from Thursday night’s audience of 681,000 metro viewers for game one, session one.

Match three of the Big Bash which saw Melbourne Stars compete against the Hobart Hurricanes drew a metro crowd of 581,000 for session two, with a metro audience of 463,000 for session one.

Also in cricket, Saturday saw the second test between India and Australia wrap up early with Australia claiming victory. Session three of the match was watched by 1.193m on Nine, with an audience of 1.144m for session two. Session one grabbed an audience of 872,000 after 297,000 had tuned in for the pre-match coverage.

In the evening a metro audience of 951,000 tuned in to Seven for the Carols in the Domain. Last year’s carols was watched by 974,000 metro viewers.
