Seven wins night dominated by earthquake-driven scheduling changes

Seven had the three most watched shows of Tuesday night in a schedule that saw several late programming changes to accommodate news of yesterday’s Christchurch earthquake.

Packed To The Rafters rated just under 1.8m, while My Kitchen Rules pulled in just over 1.6m and Seven News just under 1.4m accoridng to prelininary overnight ratings from OzTam.

The launch of Seven’s Conviction Kitchen may have lost out to Nine’s decision to bump Ben Elton from the 9.30pm timeslot to 10.30pm in the eatern states  and replace it with an earthquake news special. Conviction Kitchen rated 825,000.

Shows dropped from the schedule included Seven losing Home & Away and Cougar Town, and Nine getting rid of Two And A Half Men. Ten dropped its replay of 6PM With George Negus for a news update.

Because of the late scheduling changes, accurate ratings for Ben Elton were not immediately available but appear to have been around 200,000.

According to the preliminary numbers the show rated 491,000. But these numbers are likely to refer to its previous spot which ebcame the news special. The Kitchen Nightmares slot, which Ben Elton was moved into rated 204,000.
