Seven wins Saturday night as people switch on the news
The most-watched program across the country on Saturday night was Seven News, which collected 929,000 metro viewers, and 1.330m across the country.
Its closest competitor was Nine News, which in the same timeslot had 776,000 across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, and 1.086m nationally.
ABC News, on one hour later, drew 762,000 in the cities and 1.113m in total.
In entertainment, the ABC’s Doc Martin was most popular, with 697,000 overnight metro viewers, and 1.029m nationally.
Nine’s Taronga: Who’s Who In The Zoo, had 475,000 (700,000 nationally).
Overall, Seven had a 19.0% audience share for the evening, beating Nine’s 15.8%, ABC’s 13.0%, Ten’s 7.3% and SBS’ 6.0%.
On a network basis, including multi-channels, Nine Network slipped ahead on 28.0%. Seven Network was just behind on 27.6%, while ABC was on 19.9%, Ten on 14.4% and SBS on 10.1%.
