Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell returns to 592,000 metro viewers

The 11th season of Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell has launched on ABC with 592,000 metro viewers tuning in. The episode, which aired at 8:30pm on Wednesday night, brought in a bigger audience than 2019’s premiere which drew 569,000, but was a drop from 2018 when 674,000 tuned in.

The show drew a national audience of 836,000 viewers. Hard Quiz, which also returned on Wednesday night for its fifth season, drew 550,000 metro viewers at 8pm and 800,000 nationally.

The night also brought the third episode of Nine’s Married at First Sight which managed to continue the show’s streak of achieving over 1m viewers per episode. 1.014m metro viewers tuned in and 1.355m nationally, handing Nine the win in the 7:30pm timeslot.

The show also topped all three of the key advertising demographics – 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s – followed by Ten’s Australian Survivor: All Stars. Survivor brought in 551,000 metro viewers overall and 717,000 nationally.

My Kitchen Rules: The Rivals is still failing to find its audience. 428,000 metro viewers watched the reality show on Seven, and 669,000 nationally, a slight rise from Tuesday night’s 402,000 metro viewers, but down on Monday’s 517,000.

Nine’s Doctor Doctor, starring Rodger Corser, returned for its fifth season, drawing 532,000 metro viewers for the premiere episode at 9pm. It won the slot, going up against First Dates Australia on Seven which drew 345,000 metro viewers, Black Comedy on ABC with 317,000 and Bull on Ten with 193,000.

MAFS was the most-watched program overall with metro audiences, while Seven News at 6:30pm took the top spot nationally, drawing 1.543m viewers. In the metro audiences, it brought in 985,000. Nine News delivered 1.046m and 765,000 in the same slot.

The win for the night overall went to Nine with a primary channel audience share of 23.6% and a network share of 30.4%. Seven held 16.8% and 24.2% and ABC 12.4% and 17.1%, while Ten secured 11.7% and 18.9% as a network. SBS held 5.8% and 9.4%. The most popular multi-channel was 10 Bold with 4.8%.
